Our History

Founded in 1985

Our story begins on April 15, 1985, when Bill and Gayle Hoff founded Chubby’s Pizza. They had already been in the pizza business since the early 1970s, operating other locations in the Cincinnati area. As Bill got to know his customers and made friends along the way, many of them began affectionately calling him “Chubby”—and the name stuck. When it came time to open their pizza shop in South Lebanon, the name “Chubby’s” was the perfect fit.

Since the very beginning, Chubby’s has been committed to making pizza the right way—with fresh, in-house dough made daily and our original family sauce recipe that hasn’t changed since day one.

In January 2000, Chubby’s proudly became a second-generation business when Bill and Gayle’s son, Dennis Hoff, took over operations. Under Dennis’ leadership, Chubby’s has continued to grow while staying true to the values that started it all.

In July 2003, we opened our Morrow location, followed by the addition of a soft-serve ice cream shop at our South Lebanon location in 2009. Our Blanchester location joined the family in July 2013.

Today, whether you’re here for a slice of pizza or a swirl of soft-serve, you’re part of the Chubby’s family. We’re proud of our roots and excited to keep serving the communities we love—one pizza at a time.
